Strawberry Basil Moscow Mule

A twist on the classic, this Strawberry Basil Moscow Mule is fruity, tart, sweet and a touch spicy. Strawberries and fresh basil leaves are muddled together, strained to create a strawberry juice, then mixed with agave, lemon juice, vodka, and ginger beer. It’s then served over ice for a colorful and refreshing cocktail, perfect for summer.

Strawberry Basil Moscow Mule

Makes 1 Moscow Mule

Ingredients

  • 5 large strawberries

  • 5 large basil leaves, plus more for garnish

  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or agave

  • 1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • 2 ounces vodka

  • 5 ounces ginger beer (or club soda if you’re not a fan of ginger beer)

Directions

  1. Remove and discard the green tops of the strawberries. Muddle the strawberries with the basil leaves until a a jam-like consistency.

  2. Press the mixture through a sieve into a bowl. Use the muddler, or a wooden spoon, to press as much of the juice through the sieve as you can. Discard the pulp.

  3. Add the maple syrup and lemon to the bowl with the strawberry juice and mix.

  4. Fill your serving cup with ice. Add the strawberry mixture, vodka, and top with ginger beer. Garnish with basil and enjoy!
