Kumquat Lavender Margarita

If you have a kumquat tree and like margaritas…this recipe is perfect for you! Most kumquat trees produce more than you can eat, so put those kumquats to use and make this delicious summery marg.

Ingredients:

Serves 2

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed kumquat juice

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 tbsp agave

  • 3 shots tequila

  • 1 tsp Cointreau

  • 1 tsp Triple Sec

  • 2 lavender flowers, plus more for garnish

For the sugar rim:

  • 2 tbsp agave

  • 1/4 cup cane sugar

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Add the kumquat juice, water, agave, tequila, Cointreau, Triple Sec and lavender flowers.

  3. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds.

  4. To get the thick sugar rim, use a pastry brush to brush a thin layer of agave on the inside and outside of each glass, about 1/4 of the way down the glass.

  5. Sprinkle sugar over the agave.

  6. Pour the cocktail into the glasses.

  7. Finally, garnish with lavender flowers and kumquat peels.
